Step 1
Tools required:
Small Phillips Screw Driver
Small Flathead or exacto razor
A Safe Open Tool

1st use your thumb and index fingers to squeeze the middle of the ipod to create
a small gap. Next insert the safe open tool and pry the front bezel along the
full edge to open the unit.

Step 2
You now have the front cover and backing apart. you will need to take
the screw driver and unscrew the 3 screws on the main board. You should
also take the battery off the front panel now as well. It is held on
with mild adhesive so you can simply pull it out (it will remain
connected to the board (soldering required to change the battery) |

Step 3
After the screws are taken off, you can see in pic. 3 that the ribbon
connecting the clickwheel needs to be taken off. Insert a small flathead
screwdriver/razor and pop the black clip up to remove the small cable. |

Step 5
There is one more cable that needs to be disconnected in the middle of
the board (pic. 5). Pop the clip up again and slide the cable off. This
is the Nano LCD ribbon cable |

Step 6
You now have the board out so you can take the screen out of the front
bezel. The screen is held to the front panel with sticky adhesive so you
will need to pull this out gently. |

Shows all parts disassembled. |

Step 8
To change the clickwheel you will need to
insert a small flathead screwdriver or razor and take the metal plate
off. this is held on with mild adhesive. |
